Departure will be at 16:30 from the Culture and Convention Center (CCC), We are heading for the sandy "Horse Shoe Bay" in Kayalar. The transfer time is approximately half an hour; the bay is a nice and quiet spot to swim, off the beaten tracks. In September the water temperatures of the Eastern Mediterranean still reach almost 30°C! The restaurant Apo's Place provides sun beds, showers and toilets; the first drink (soft drink, wine or beer) will be complimentary. The trip will be accompanied by professional guides who will tell about the western part of Northern Cyprus, landscape and traditions.
Departure will be at 17:30 from the Culture and Convention Center (CCC), we are heading for the last divided capital of Europe, Nicosia. The bus will bring us to the Kyrenia Gate, where we start our guided tour through the walled city of Nicosia. On this tour, our guides will inform about the history of Cyprus, and we will visit some of the most popular historic points of interest such as the Selimiye Mosque and the Büyük Han. After the tour there will be some free time, guests with European, American, Swiss or Canadian passports have the possibility to cross the border at Lokmaci checkpoint to the southern part of Cyprus. Banquet will be in Bibliotheque, a newly renovated Venetian storehouse at the very centre of Nicosia's old town at 20:00. We will have a typical Cypriot dinner with live music and one free drink included.
Departure will be at 17:30 from the Culture and Convention Center (CCC), We are heading for the most beautiful city in the northern part of Cyprus – Kyrenia! On the way to Kyrenia our Guides will tell us about the 20th century history of Cyprus. In Kyrenia we will start with a professional guided tour of the Old Town and the Venetian Harbour. After a short drive, we will arrive to Bellapais, where we sit down for the big Gala dinner with drinks included at the unique Kybele Restaurant in the courtyard of the ancient monastery at 20:00. The dinner will be finished at 23:00 with the transfer to METU NCC. Alternatively: Transfer to harbour at 23:00 and Transfer to METU NCC at 1:00 AM – has to be ordered in advance!
Departure will be at 15:30 after the conference. This day's program has a wide variety between culture and
relaxing. The first point of the day is a visit to Bellapais Monastery, a must see in Northern Cyprus! The tour will
be accompanied by professional tour guides, who will tell the story of Richard Lionheart and the 3rd Crusade. The
village also became famous with Lawrence Durrell and his book "Bitter lemons of Cyprus" about the turbulent
1950ties, before the island became independent. Afterwards we drive down to Kyrenia where we visit the
Harbour Castle. Our guides will explain about the ancient history of Cyprus, especially about the Kyrenia Ship
Wreck and Venetian times.
Relaxing is the second part of the program, a boat trip starting from Kyrenia harbour including dinner. Enjoy the
late summer Mediterranean sunset and the chance to see the island from a different perspective - bring your
swimming gear!
