Hypertext 2023
The ACM Hypertext conference is a premium venue for high quality peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems, applications, publishing, artwork and related practices. It is concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research including social and intelligent media, narrative systems and applications, authoring, reading and publishing hypertext, workflows and infrastructures as well as reflections and approaches.
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 34th Anniversary ACM Conference on Hypertext and Social Media at Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome, Italy, on September 4-8, 2023. The ACM Hypertext conference is a premium venue for high-quality peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems and applications. It is concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research, including social media, semantic web, dynamic and computed hypertext and hypermedia, as well as narrative systems, applications in the field of knowledge, culture and entertainment, and the societal impact of hypertext systems.
The topic of the Hypertext 2023 is the “Humanity Within”. This is an invitation to the historical Hypertext community to reflect on the human-side of hypertext systems, as new forms of cultural artifacts and infrastructures. This is also a call to arms for the communities of Digital Humanities, Book History, and E-Literature to apply their Humanities-based lenses, sensibilities, and methods to the study of hypertext systems and social media.
The conference will take place at the Bibliotheca Hertziana for Art History, part of the Max Planck Institute. Bibliotheca Hertziana is at the core of the historical Rome, in Trinità dei Monti, at the top of the iconic stairs of Piazza di Spagna. Bibliotheca Hertziana hosts an impressive collection and a Digital Humanities research centre for Art and Cultural Heritage.
