In this context, the CA role applies specifically to ACM eRights and TAPS processing. It does not necessarily mean the author will handle post-publication correspondence.

To avoid Article Processing Charges (APCs), the CA’s affiliation (i.e., their institutional email) must be part of ACM Open (check eligibility: https://libraries.acm.org/acmopen/open-participants). If the CA is not affiliated with an eligible institution, APC charges will apply.

If the CA is not the first author, this does not affect the published author order. However, please note the following:

During the initial submission in EasyChair, authors must indicate which co-author will act as the Corresponding Author. Only one author can be designated as CA.

In later stages, ACM and TAPS will communicate only with the CA. The CA is responsible for relaying all relevant information to co-authors.

The CA must remain available throughout the entire process, up to final TAPS sign-off. The CA role cannot be reassigned once the process has begun, so please ensure the selected individual will not be unavailable (e.g., on leave or offline).

Additionally:

All co-authors must have an ORCID iD; otherwise, ACM will not accept the paper.

ORCID iDs are free to obtain at https://orcid.org/.

ORCID iDs are intended to replace postal addresses and email contacts, as authors may change institutions over time.

The current ACM LaTeX template automatically includes each author’s ORCID iD in the paper.

Important: This reflects a significant procedural change from pre-2026 Any author may serve as the paper’s Corresponding Author (CA).
