Interview: Readership and experience with interactive and social media

In this interview we meet Prof. Anna Nacher (Jagiellonian University in Kraków) and Dr Lovro Škopljanac (University of Zagreb) who chair the Readership and Experience with Interactive and Social Media track of the upcoming ACM Hypertext 2024 conference. Lovro and Anna meet Dr Mariusz Pisarski, the general chair of the conference, to speak about the broad historical and contemporary context of digital literacies on social media platforms, electronic literature and about hypertext paradigms in culture. The two scholars invite submissions focused ono the category of experience as a key element for the track and discuss various forms of contemporary reading practices that they would like to see reflected on in the papers, extended abstracts, demos submitted:

For the “Readership and experience with interactive and social media” track we are waiting for extended abstracts, papers (short, full) and demos in the follow areas:

  • Digital storytelling and electronic literature: How hypertexts are used to communicate ideas and facilitate alternative textual experiences.
  • Reading practices and reader response: How hypertexts are read (or skimmed, browsed, misread) and interpreted.
  • Rhetorics and poetics: How hypertexts are framed in popular and scholarly discourse, as well as theoretical considerations on forms of expression supported by hypertextual formats.
  • Textual intelligence: How hypertexts change the preconditions and affordances of what it means to interact with a text, ranging from searchability to human-AI conversations.
  • Platform interaction: How hypertexts negotiate the politics of platforms within platformized creative practices.

Please check our submission guidelines for the submission to EasyChair and ACM templates and camera ready submissions.
