Grants and Support

ACM Hypertext 2025 is committed to promoting equity and inclusion for students and early-career researchers attending the conference, particularly those from developing countries. In light of this commitment—and thanks to the generous contributions of ACM SIGWEB and US NSF, ACM Hypertext 2025 is pleased to offer grants to help support conference attendance financially. conference attendance financially. The following grants may be used to support active students and early-career researchers. The early-career researchers are defined as academic researchers or faculties who have graduated within the past five years (no more than 5 years from the graduation date), and worked on research with junior titles (e.g., Associate Professor is not qualified).

ACM SIGWEB Grants

ACM SIGWEB is committed to promoting fair access to its conferences and to achieve this goal, SIGWEB is increasing and broadening the student support offered at these events. This initiative aims to reduce financial barriers for students as well as early researchers from economically developing countries, thus enabling broader participation in conferences and creating a more inclusive academic community.

Eligibility. the fund supports students and early researchers, especially the ones from economically developing countries (For a list of eligible countries, please refer to: https://services.acm.org/public/qj/proflevel/countryListing.cfm).

US NSF Grants

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is a U.S. government agency that supports fundamental research and education in all non-medical fields of science and engineering. Thanks to the generous support by US NSF, we are able to support students who are studying in USA to attend the ACM Hypertext conference.

Eligibility. the fund supports student authors only, and students must be active students who are studying in US institutions or colleges.

Covered costs. registration fees, travel*, accommodation*

* Please note: Expenses different from the registration fees may be covered partially according to available funds.

Grant Assignment Criteria and Notes

Grants will be awarded based on the following priorities:

  • Student Status: Preference will be given to students. If there is funding available after allocating funds to students, early-career researchers or faculties may be considered.

  • Accepted Contributions: Preference will be given to authors of accepted contributions, with priority in the following order: summer schools, main track, short paper, and other categories.

  • Residency: Applicants residing in an economically developing country (as defined by the ACM list) will be favoured.

  • Underrepresented Countries: Applicants from underrepresented countries at Hypertext 2025 will also receive priority.

  • Notes about the Awardee Duties: The awardees should serve as volunteers at the conference. If an awardee fails to fulfill the volunteer duties, we have the right to reduce or revoke the allocated funding.

Supporting Documents

  • If you are a student, a recommendation letter from your supervisor is needed to be uploaded. Your supervisor should: 1). Demonstrate your status of active students; 2). Claiming available funding from your University or his/her teams; 3). Indicating what are the funds you requested and whether your request is reasonable.

  • If you are an early-career researcher, you should submit proof to demonstrate your status. Please refer to the definition of early-career researchers. Note that we may not have funds to support travel expenses for early-career researchers. We may offer registration waiver or discounts for selected early-career researchers.
