Arriving in Chicago
Most travelers will arrive in Chicago via Chicago’s O’Hare international airport (ORD). The airport is located 17 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Some domestic attendees may arrive in Chicago via Midway International Airport (MDW), which is 11 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. For domestic travelers, you can also reach Chicago by taking trains (Amtrack) and long-distance bus (Greyhound or FlixBus).
Getting to Downtown Chicago
There are 3 options for traveling from the airports to downtown Chicago: 1) the CTA train, 2) a shuttle service, or 3) a taxi or rideshare service.
1). Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Train
- From the ORD international airport, you can take CTA Blue Line to downtown Chicago
- From the MDW domestic airport, you can take CTA Orange Line to downtown Chicago
CTA Fare Information
- CTA fare information can be found on CTA website. There is fare information for both buses and trains.
- You can purchase a Single-trip Ventra Ticket or buy a Ventra Card which is a contactless payment card for easy access to buses and trains across the city’s transit system. You can easily buy the Ventra Card from vending machines at Chicago Airports.
- In addition, CTA offers day passes, including 1-day. 3-day, 7-day and 30-day passes. You can also load these passes to your Ventra Card. You can find more information on CTA website
2). Shuttle Services from the Airports
There are shuttle services available, but you may need to book them in advance.
3). Taxi or Rideshare Services
Lyft, Uber and city taxis operate at O’Hare and Midway airports. If hiring a taxi, do not accept a ride from a driver outside the designated taxi queue at the airport or from anyone who approaches you inside the airport offering a ride. The fare from either airport to downtown Chicago typically costs $30-$50 depending on traffic conditions, plus tip.

Getting to the Conference Venue
The venue is located at the Mies campus of Illinois Institute of Technology. It can be accessed by Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) buses and train/subway services. The campus is also featured with parking slots for visitors. You can visit the venue page at HT’2025 website to learn the specific way going from your hotel to the conference venue.
